The garden cabbage, also called ornamental cabbage, has its origin in the Mediterranean region and is an annual plant although it also has some perennial varieties. It can reach a height of 25-30 centimeters and its leaves are beautiful, very large and curly with red, yellow, white and pink hues. They are very decorative and depending on the variety it can bloom at different times of the year.
Caring for a garden cabbage
Take note of their most important cares:
- illumination- You need to be in a location where there is enough sun, but does not receive the rays for many hours a day. An area that is sufficiently sunny but does not suffer too much heat.
- Temperature: it has no requirement in this regard, and it is one of the few plants that supports extremely cold temperatures.
- I usually: it must be made of garden soil, which is fertile and, if possible, reinforce it with humus.
- Irrigation: it has to be regular, so that the earth never dries up but does not puddle as it would rot.
- Pass: it is advisable to apply a fertilizer a month after planting so that it can develop much better thanks to its benefits.
- Pests: garden cabbage is usually affected mainly by aphids and worms, two "bugs" that are especially fond of this plant.
- Sowing: the ideal is that it is in summer, germinating at 20ºC between 4 and 6 days. Put the seeds directly where you want the plant to grow, both outdoors and indoors.
