- Long-tailed bishop bird: comes from South Africa and inhabits large plains such as savannas and grasslands. One of its most peculiar features is the length of its tail, which can even measure twice its body.
- Blue australian mouse: lives in arid or sub-arid areas of the Australian continent. Its characteristic color is brown although at the time of mating it adopts bluish tones on the chest and on the beak that contrast with the dark colors of the rest of the plumage.
- Quetzal: It is native to Central America and is usually found in high mountain forests. Its plumage is of an intense green color although it can present flashes of golden, red or blue tones. - Crowned crane: It is native to Africa although they are located in the most humid areas of the continent. It is considered exotic due to a peculiar golden bow that it presents on its head. It also has an unusual habit in cranes since it is usually located on the branches of trees.
- Golden pheasant: indigenous to the Asian continent, in fact, it constitutes an important symbol in Chinese culture. It stands out for its bright plumage with white and yellow tones that contrast with its reddish chest.
- Kakapo: own from New Zealand. It is the only parrot in the world unable to fly and is currently in danger of extinction.
- Pitohui: It is found in New Guinea. Its plumage is between black and orange, although what really characterizes it is the secretion of a neurotoxin that covers its feathers, causing immediate pain when in contact with them.
- Red throated hummingbird: It is located in Canada, the United States and Mexico, and its ability to adapt is precisely what differentiates it from other species.
The world's exotic birds in danger of extinction
Despite man's appreciation for these birds, many of them they are threatened as a consequence of activities carried out by human beings. Indiscriminate logging or global warming, for example, cause modifications in their habitat to which many species are unable to adapt. On the other hand, their illegal hunting, breeding and commercialization also constitute a determining factor for the subsistence of the species.
