Spain falls in the global index on the state of energy systems

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has written its annual report on the state of energy systems of countries worldwide. The study analyzes the "Energy architecture" out of 126 countries based on their ability to provide access toeconomic growth and energy development, environmental sustainability and security and access.

The Global Energy Architecture Performance Index Report 2016 (EAPI) is an annual report that offers a comparison and a ranking by means of different indicators that helps countries to orient the challenges related to the energy transformation and also to identify possible opportunities in their energy systems.

To get a global idea of how the indicators energetic We add the following summary infographic. On the left we find the three base indicators and their sub-indices;Economic growth and development, environmental sustainability and Energy security and access. If we focus on the head of the "Top 10" we continue to find Switzerland first for several years now, according to Norway, third for Sweden… And in seventh place we findSpain, which has dropped two places compared to the 2015 report. Spain«Although compared to 2009 we have gained in global score and in the environmental sustainability index has improved two points with reference to the year 2015, in the economic growth and development index energetic this year, it has lost value »… So the appropriate administrations should take note to try to improve in this regard.

The report highlights that before the appearance of new energies - renewable - it will be necessary for countries to apply policies and infrastructures to support and give access to new energy sources, both for individuals and companies, which are breaking into the market in a forceful way.

Low oil prices are forcing or accelerating subsidy reforms to restore fiscal balance in countries that depend on oil revenues.

Another point to highlight is that new capabilities are required to manage a energy system more complex, interconnected, which requires new investments through resilience guidelines that will improve and avoid unnecessary expenses and risk reduction.
