Sustainable building design course
Meeting the growing global demand for energy, while mitigating environmental impacts or climate change, requires a large-scale transition to clean and sustainable energy systems. Students and professionals around the world must prepare for this energy landscape.
Constant learning today is no longer an option, it is an obligation if we want to survive in a very competent market. There are many online courses in the architecture or engineering sector, which are free, they are already difficult to find, and which are free and of quality, even more so.
The famous MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) has launched this month a free course on sustainable building design in format MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses or massive and open online courses) that we can still register for.
Eye! We remind you that MOOC courses can be taken totally free for those who just want to increase their knowledge, yes, if we want a course certificate, we will have to pass all the tests according to requirements (reputable universities are demanding with these tests) and pay an amount "X" to obtain the document.
Sustainable building design training
The construction sector accounts for a large percentage of total energy consumption and contributes 40% of the carbon emissions that drive climate change. However, buildings also offer opportunities for substantial and economic benefits in energy efficiency matter.
From rehabilitation projects to new construction, buildings require a context-specific design process that integrates efficiency strategies and technologies.
The training explores key scientific principles in building, technologies and analytical techniques to design comfortable indoor environments while reducing energy use and associated effects of climate change.
The main focus of this course is the study of the thermal and light behavior of buildings. You will examine the basic scientific principles underlying these phenomena and use computer-aided design software and climate data to explore the role that light and energy can play in shaping architecture.
goals
- Understand the scientific principles underlying the thermal and light behavior of buildings.
- Learn to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of a range of technologies for creating comfortable indoor environments.
Sustainable building design course curriculum
The duration of training is 12 weeks, according to indications, 8 to 10 hours per week). The difficulty level is intermediate therefore, a minimum of knowledge will be needed in the architecture sector. The course is taught in English (The videos are transcribed in English).
