Scientists have long proven that if we continue at this rate of consumption of natural resources and environmental pollution, we will not leave a healthy world for future generations. Environmental problems have worsened in recent decades, although actions to correct the damage caused to the environment have also improved. In this Green Ecologist article we tell you why it is important to take care of the environment and how to get it through a will or solidarity legacy to be able to leave it to future generations.
Why it is important to take care of the environment - reasons for its conservation
To get started, What is the environment? In a simple and summarized way, we can say that the environment is the space in which all the physical, chemical and biological elements that interact and relate in one way or another. Therefore, it is the space, as well as all the elements that make it up, in which there may be life as we know it.
Between the main reasons to take care of the environment we can highlight the following:
- Ensure the survival of the human species.
- Favor the survival and evolution of other living beings.
- Allow for ecological balance.
- There is no planet B where we can live like on Earth, so it is our only home and that of future generations.
A) Yes, the importance of conserving the environment is vital, since the very importance that this has for living beings is a matter of life.

What is the solidarity legacy
The will or solidarity legacy it is a way of contributing with our generosity towards the causes most in need of the planet. Leaving a percentage of your inheritance (which can be up to 100% if you have no forced heirs), a good money (money, shares, life insurance, investment fund …), or a well not money (property, parking space, jewelry …), in your will in favor of a cause of solidarity, we guarantee that the work of non-profit organizations for a better future for all continues when you are gone. Making a will is an act of responsibility that allows you to simplify the procedures of your heirs and, in addition, you can choose one or more NGOs for the donation, ensuring that part of your assets will contribute to improving or saving the lives of the most vulnerable people, as well how to protect the environment and all its biodiversity.
LegadoSolidario.org is a social initiative that began in 2007 with the aim of informing about the importance of making a will and the option of leaving your mark of solidarity on it. It is made up of 25 non-profit organizations or entities: Action Against Hunger, Spanish Committee of UNHCR, SOS Children's Villages, Friends of the Elderly, Amnesty International, Anesvad, Help in Action, Cris Against Cancer, Red Cross, Entreculturas, Josep Carreras Foundation, Pasqual Maragall Foundation, Messengers for Peace Foundation, Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), Greenpeace, IRB Barcelona, Manos Unidas, Médicos del Mundo, MedicusMundi, Doctors Without Borders, Oxfam Intermón, Plan International Spain, Save the Children, UNICEF Spain and WWF Spain. All the organizations that make up this campaign will show you their projects and how your donation in will could help alleviate serious global problems.
How to make a legacy of solidarity
In Spain we have little habit of making a will and we tend to think that it is a slow, complicated and very expensive process. But it is not the reality. Making a will is simple and costs around 45 euros. It's about a reversible procedure at any time but that, whatever the amount of the donation, it can help those most in need and promote solidarity among all the citizens of the world. It is managed through a notary and the NGO you choose can guide you through the process if you want.
In addition, all Non-profit entities who participate in the initiative are recognized as being of public utility and are not subject to inheritance tax, so everything received through the solidarity legacy will be used in its entirety to help the chosen social cause. Any of them will advise you for free, confidential and without obligation, so that you can make the best decision.
What will happen to my heirs? This action not only does not harm the rights of the heirs, but also contributes to improving the life and society of future generations.
The future is a matter of the present. It is everyone's business.
