The Green Employment report for Spain and Latin America has been published.

This month the report "Green Employment" has been published where, from the Enviroo portal, all the vacancies published throughout 2013 in the Spanish and Latin American territory are analyzed.

We want to add the generalized definition of green employment so that we are aware of what we are talking about…. “They are the ones that reduce the environmental impact of companies and economic sectors until ultimately reaching sustainable levels. Green jobs are understood as work in agriculture, industry, services and the administration that contributes to preserving or restoring environmental quality "

Data from 2013: (Although the image is designated in the report as "graph of green jobs by categories in Mexico" it is in the section of Spain, so we understand that it is from Spain, we have also verified it in other reference articles and the graph is for Spain).

In order to compare, we add the data for the year 2012.

As indicated in the report … in 2013, 24% more real offers were published on the Internet than in 2012. So we can confirm that the current job niche, which is broad, includes good job opportunities.

From the report we want to highlight several points with reference to Spain. Of the rising sectors according to graphs and that we can clearly identify is that of the energy efficiency, consulting, water, biofuels and agriculture.

On the contrary, the most disadvantaged that we can identify are; Photovoltaic solar energy, wind energy, solar thermal, biology. For the other categories they are more or less assimilable.

What does the data released in the green employment report mean for Spain?

First than him labor market and its opportunities have changed from year to yearIn other words, the demand for employment by sector is not stable. One year we may need many consultants (2012) and the following year (2013) the market is already full or is no longer of interest.

Second the energy efficiency is on the riseEither because of a need for savings (which is viable in the face of the crisis that affects us) or because of a “boom” in the face of a market that was not really exploited and that both at the level of Spain and outside the borders is being paid a lot of interest.

The decline of the labor market in clean energy, photovoltaic, solar … etc. To suppose its breakdown and collapse before the laws that we all know that have been approved throughout and at the end of 2013 through incomprehensible policies both before the professionals of the sector and from the European Union that paradoxically are heading in another direction, betting on the clean energies.

Another piece of information that seems curious to me is the rise of the agriculture sector, with more than 100% with reference to the year 2012. I hope that some reader will shed more light on this issue, although it may be due to a rebound effect, in the face of a crisis many families return to the “poble”, to the roots where they are trying to recover and start new businesses. (This approach in the province of Alicante is happening)

Data provided by the report in Latin America.

If we move to Latin America, there are three countries on the rise; Peru, Chile and Mexico, with interesting job opportunities. The sectors that are booming or to be highlighted are environmental services to companies, agriculture, biology, sustainability and CSR, and water.

We add the graphs - with reference to 2013 - together so that you can analyze it yourself:

We add the graph of 2012 so that you can compare:

Note: Due to my ignorance of the labor market and economic situation, I cannot make a coherent analysis of the Latin American market, I'm sorry! The images in this post are subtracted from the corresponding reports.

As a complement and I recommend giving it a spin from the Zaragoza Water and Environment Documentation Center They offer us a PDF of web resources both with references to find green jobs and to be up-to-date in the environment … HERE.
