Less is more in minimalist architecture for children

More does not always mean better, it can be less and much more functional or simply consider how a child can draw a house and start from here. design of a project of architecture over a nursery that enhances one of the greatest expressions known to all,Less is more by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

We have to move to Denmark to begin to understand this example of minimalist and Nordic architecture for a kindergarten from the famous architect studio COBE based in Copenhagen.

Trying to portray and project what a child thinks when they draw a house with its simple shapes, without ornaments, with basic colors and the sloping roof of a lifetime is not an easy task if we consider that they do not even consider that the doors or windows have frames.

To understand the essence of this Nordic architecture and its design We wanted to collect the key images that define the idea and the project in a kind of infographic:

The new building of pure forms which is located in Frederiksberg (Denmark), aims to accommodate more than 180 children in a 1,700 m2 nursery located in a former facility that only housed 30.

Breaking the urban space and architectural tradition Kindergarten was another key point where the result is a series of eleven small, compact and functional semi-detached houses and connected to each other organized on the basis of free spaces and interior courtyards.

Houses with different sizes as well as orientations where children have access to open spaces at different levels.

The lines and pure forms of the built project surprise by the detail of an envelope and totally minimalist decoration where the windows have been detached from that traditional frame.

Not only can you live and play from the outside, so the interior surprises even more with an industrial look, but at the same time it is cozy and bright, with materials and shapes in detail that invite a child to "riot".

Certainly a very enchanted nursery and an exceptional conceptual approach. It is highly recommended to take a tour of the COBE website, they have both architectural and urban projects that are more than interesting.
