A very ecological hotel
Entrepreneurs in the hotel sector constantly face new challenges: the evolution in the way of traveling, users with greater demands or the need to adapt quickly to technological trends, are just some of the challenges of each season.
But if there is one aspect that everyone agrees on and is having a greater impact on the sector, it is sustainability and ecological character of the accommodation. The concern for the protection of the environment and the climate reaches all sectors, and the hotelier is no stranger to it.

More conscientious travelers demand proposals that respect nature without losing sight of the originality of the stay or respect for the environment, and, of course, the tree tents to spend the night near the city of Borgloon (Belgium), comply with the objective of the «ecological hotel«.

To locate ourselves, the city of Borgloon is about 35 kilometers from Liège. In its surroundings, on the way to a castle, we find the Tranendreef, a small row of old trees, completely surrounded by an intense green, whose meaning for the locals is, the avenue of tears.

The sustainable hotel consists of different teardrop-shaped tents that hang from the large trees lined the path providing a low environmental impact accommodation to enjoy the outdoors (See also original trips for architects).
Initially, it was actually a sculptural proposal by the Dré Wapenaar studio. His sculptures are mainly tent constructions that are temporarily placed on the border between architecture, sculpture and nature, between stay and encounter in unique ecological environments. But, due to their originality and usefulness, they were adapted to form this small hotel located in the middle of the countryside.

Currently the hotel only has four tents with the capacity to accommodate two adults and two small children, accessed by a staircase.
Remember that we have already talked about different ecological hotels or at least that try to respect the environment: the original floating hotel in Sweden or the lodgings built with bamboo.

In a plot attached to the ecological hotel, there are the common outdoor areas; seating, washing, bathing and barbecue made from recycled furniture based on wooden fruit boxes that can often be seen in the Haspengouw landscape. The furniture is designed by artist Ardie Van Bommel with the concept of "Pure Nature".

As we have seen, from March to the end of September the accommodation is open. More information can be found at the Borgloon tourist office from HERE.
We do not know the prices of the accommodation, but of course it is a good opportunity to sleep in a very original accommodation, in an idyllic landscape and in a place that respects the natural environment of its enclave.
By the way, another architectural marvel is the Escher hotel (The Other Place Guilin Litopia) with compositions by the artist Escher that come to life inside this peculiar place. Or the Null Stern Hotel, aminimalist hotel for different people that we saw in the article on minimalist homes. This is a photo to remember!

Well yes, that's the hotel. Located in the mountains of the Swiss Alps they want to show that another way to spend a night is possible.
