The Secretariat of State R + D + i allocates 382 million euros for aid in scientific and technical research in Spain.

We believe that it is worth mentioning in this portal the new aids in scientific and technical research given the existing need in Spain and that possibly a colleague is more than interested in knowing all its aspects.

The calls for research projects for 2013 amount to one maximum amount of 382 million euros from the Secretary of State for R + D + i, belonging to the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

In compliance with the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation, for the first time research projects can be requested as R&D Excellence projects, which has 115.5 million euros, or as R&D projects Challenges -Research, which has 266.8 million euros. The 2012 call for non-targeted fundamental research projects, in which 3,182 projects were selected, involved an investment of 309 million euros.

Call for R&D Excellence:

The main objective of these projects is to obtain results that represent a significant advance in knowledge and have a high scientific-technical, international, social or economic impact.

Call for R&D Challenges-Research:

Objective of the aid aid in scientific and technical research in Spain:

1. R&D projects.-These are research projects without predefined thematic orientation consisting of experimental or theoretical work undertaken with the primary objective of obtaining results that represent a significant advance in knowledge. These projects may be carried out individually or in a coordinated manner in order to promote the creation of more powerful scientific cooperation schemes in order to achieve objectives that could hardly be considered in a more restricted context of implementation.

2. "Explore Science" and "Explore Technology" projects.-These are research projects whose objectives involve a reevaluation of established paradigms, interdisciplinary objectives, search for new concepts and groundbreaking applications in different scientific disciplines.

3. Dynamization actions "Europe Excellence Projects".-Their objective is to promote Spanish participation in the "Starting Grants" subprogram within the IDEAS Program of the VII European Research Framework Program managed by the European Agency of the European Research Council (ERCEA, in its acronym in English).

These are scientific-technical research projects related to the objectives of the proposals sent and positively evaluated and considered eligible by the European Research Council (ERC, in its acronym in English), but, for budgetary reasons, they could not finally be financed by said body.

  • State Program for Research, Development and Innovation Oriented to the Challenges of Society, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016. BOE … HERE.

1. Mode 1: «Research Challenges»: R & D & I projects. These are research projects consisting of experimental or theoretical works that, due to their characteristics and purpose, are oriented to the search for scientific-technical solutions that allow solving the problems posed in the challenges of society, regardless of the basic or more applied nature. of the methodology and results obtained.

These projects may be carried out individually or in a coordinated manner, in order to promote the creation of more powerful scientific cooperation schemes, so that they allow the achievement of objectives that could hardly be considered in a more restricted context of implementation.

2. Mode 2: Actions consisting of International Joint Programming projects (hereinafter, "International Joint Programming Actions"). These are actions to promote the financing of the participation of Spanish teams in collaborative research projects of a European dimension, in the context of the actions of the European Research Area, or international actions, in whose joint calls for projects, on specific topics, Spain participates through agreements and memoranda of understanding.
