Scan objects and architecture in 3D easily
It is never too late to join the world of technologies and certainly advance them in 3D tools for architecture and space scanning really deserve applause.
Many work simultaneously in accordance with virtual reality or the possibility of using the scanned data in different CAD applications. Really impressive, if we recognize the reduction of workload that it can suppose for the day to day.
The Occipital company has launched a new technology startup, Structure Sensor, which is revolutionizing the world of the 3D scanning in architecture, accessible to everyone and at a relatively low cost.
For example, scan a room or simply an entire house with our iPad and later work quietly with the data obtained from a 3D modeling.
Even later send them to CAD programs or any software of our choice such asSketchup or BIM to be able to remodel at will. A real technology that already represents a change in the way architects or designers work.

To be able to work in 3D scan an architectural surface and use all its advantages, you need an accessory that is incorporated into the IPad that we can see in the later image and that unfortunately is for sale for about 380 dollars. At the same time we need a new iOS application for Iphon called Canvas 3D that we can see it from HERE.

From there, then to quickly create 3D scans of a surface: complete rooms, any surface, rooms, objects that you want to 3D print or any idea that comes to mind, it can even be used outdoors. (Let's remember the article of the App for perfect architecture)
When operated, the scanner allows you to capture dense geometry in real time. Allows you to simulate the physics of the real world and create 3D models High fidelity with high resolution textures in seconds. The possibilities are endless for the world of architecture!
The application consists of a series of sensors that sweep a space to create a 3D map on a surface, the tool guides the user through a scan by superimposing the already scanned areas with a filter similar to painting to show the scanned spaces or no. When you finish capturing, you will immediately see a 3d model raw of the scene, and you can also see the distances between objects without having to use a traditional tape measure.
Regarding the specifications of the device and above all, what is precision, in the following image we can see all its characteristics …
However, not all that glitters is gold, if we want to have it in CAD drawings it cannot be done on the iPad support for which we will have to access the application "Scan to CAD" for processing from a more robust computer that will generate accessible CAD files.
This is not free and according to the company's website the cost is 29 dollars per project, it is not that it is expensive or cheap, it will depend on the needs of the professional at all times, if we only need scan a space getting the volume in 3D and take measurements on the iPad, we will not need to pay, but if we want to have the complete and detailed plans, then we will have to pay the corresponding amount.
