First transparent solar panels

100% transparent solar panels that produce energy.

Supplying large buildings with renewable energy is always a challenge, typical solutions focused on solar panels on rooftops, using geothermal facilities or that the energy came from an external source mainly promoted by two important handicaps, there is no space to place solar panels without reducing the vision of the occupants or diminishing the aesthetics of the building

What if building windows produce solar energy?… It certainly seemed like a very distant feat given that until now this type of design was only 70% transparent or completely limited visibility.

As a solution to the answer, researchers at the University of Michigan have created transparent solar panels, 100% Transparent. 100% transparent solar energy photovoltaic cells that are likely to revolutionize the supply of renewable energy of those big skyscrapers with huge windows

The researchers call this panel "Transparent luminescent solar concentrator" more or less like the luminescent transparent solar concentrator, which makes use of organic molecules. With its 100% clear glass, it has the ability to absorb ultraviolet light and infrared lights. Photovoltaic solar cells collect light and convert it into electricity.

Of course the new technology is promising, but it must be made much more efficient. Based on the results of the study, the current version has an efficiency of 1%. Ideally this could be increased to 5%. On the other hand, colored solar cells can have up to 7%.

According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, solar technologies can have efficiencies ranging from eight percent to nearly forty percent, depending on particular properties. A conventional type panel has an efficiency of around 15%.

The new cells are less efficient than traditional photovoltaics that absorb a greater wavelength range, but could allow energy harvesting on surfaces that can never otherwise be used to generate power.

If recently we were talking about a spray that will change the concept of solar panel now they surprise us again with a novelty that has a multitude of applications and a lot to come.
