The designer Max bitsan has launched the Afloat sofa. The concept of having a lifeboat at home (a "plan B" in case of floods, tsunamis, storms, etc.) without breaking the modern aesthetic or the decoration of our housea, and, which, in turn, is a useful element in the daily life of a home.
At first glance, the appearance of the sofa is of angular lines both at its base - made of wood material - and at the top where the cushions are, but, in reality, the main structure of the sofa is built like a ship. All the materials that make up the sofa are reusable and certified with environmental standards.
Industrial design has always been characterized by trying to improve people's lives and the Afloat sofa, of course, is a clear example of how a good and well-executed idea can be relevant to many people in difficult times.
In its individual version, the aesthetics of a ship are not very noticeable, but in armchair size we can already clearly see a similarity to the typical hull of a boat in construction. It is there, where the design of the sofa responds to that buoyancy that can save us.
