Creativity in the subway
With a little imagination, the day can be a little more fun and this project to transform the Taipei subways into different sports spaces, they have succeeded!… This year Taiwan is the cultural and sports host of the Summer Universities.
To put residents in the spirit and promote the initiative, from the city of Taipei the authorities have put all the creativity possible to make its inhabitants feel like true athletes by installing different designs that emulate sports spaces inside the subway cars.
It's not just fun anymore, or it just looks great and people have a blast. The reality is that urban creativity is bringing tourists in droves and making the event known all over the world as the project idea that dazzles us with the perfect example of urban creativity.
One of the most amazing and applauded installations by passers-by is the pool floor where high-resolution textures have been used to give the sensation of walking on an Olympic-size pool.
This coming August, the capital of Taiwan will host the second largest sporting event since the Olympic Games, the Summer University of Sports and Culture, and to trigger the event, the local administration had the wonderful idea of launching the «sports themed meters ».
The ground and in some cases, part of the side of the different subway cars in the city, become sports venues. From a swimming pool to a soccer field, a basketball court and all kinds of tracks recreate pure fun for travelers.
Another of the ideas that we have found interesting in order to educate and provide information to metro passengers is that they have decorated all the handrails with different information about the championship rules and objectives, their history or information about the fundamentals of the different sports
The city authorities are hopeful that this new creative re-decoration can boost tourism in the city and provide knowledge to its inhabitants in a new experience breaking the monotony of traditional travel.
In reality, it is not the first time that the subway has been re-designed inside, and New York City knows that very well. Not long ago, library-style interior decoration of several subway cars was practiced in order to encourage people to read more and try to disconnect a bit from their mobile.
