Contrast architecture

The architectural contrast. Sonnenhof project

The evolution of the city center divides between the opinion of those who want to maintain their historical visual appearance and those who intend to apply a contrast architecture and risky, an architecture that surprises when turning the corner.

Symbiosis, mix of styles, the new and the old. Opinions for all tastes but the reality is that the project carried out in the German city of Jena does not leave anyone indifferent.

In the center of a city where the roots of history run deep, a trace of the modern architecture you are making your presence known. The architecture studio with J. Mayer H. (Based in Berlin and with an interesting website) has unleashed a project of urban renewal called Sonnenhof.

The project reflects a confrontation of styles, of spaces, moving from the symmetry of the buildings that form the center of the city to the asymmetrical shapes and the sharp edges of a groundbreaking building that almost transports the pedestrian to a distant future.

The following aerial photography gives us an idea of the inclusion of the new urban space in the city.

Sonnenhof consists of four new office buildings and residential spaces. The separate buildings allow a landscape of contrasts and free access through the open spaces and gardens that make up a small square.

Its outdoor facilities follow the same design concept established in the buildings beyond the edges of the lot. The planned incorporation of different uses; Commerce, residential, and offices allows a flexible pattern of use that is also conceptually integrated into the surroundings.

In our modern world, where society is constantly evolving, the Sonnenhof is a small glimpse of what we can expect from a modern work, from a minimalism in the architecture of the future that wants to change the space in a forceful way.
