Six graphs or tables that confirm the earth's climate change by the hand of man

This is easy, whether or not to be aware of climate change, and to assume that the worsening of the climate and the environment is mainly due to the action of the human being, therefore, we are and especially the political will, who will determine the future of our children or grandchildren….

From the United Nations Department of Climate Change (IPCC) after meeting in Copenhagen (Denmark) they have just published the Fifth Assessment Report AR5 (Climate Change 2014) which represents the synthesis of three reports made over 13 months with more than 800 high-ranking scientists. The base reports are:

  • Physical Basis - Summary for Policymakers (Spanish Summary)
  • Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability - Summary for Policymakers (Spanish Summary)
  • Climate Change Mitigation - Summary for Policymakers (Report in English)

Of Fifth AR5 Evaluation Report We can definitively and forcefully extract that the influence of the human being on the climate is clear and is growing, and its impacts can already be noticed around the planet. If nothing is done about it, "Climate change will increase the likelihood of severe, widespread and irreversible impacts on people and ecosystems", according to the report.

But, there are options available to the international community to adapt to the climate change and to carry out mitigation actions that can ensure that the impacts of the increase in global average temperature remain within a manageable range, in line with a coherent real political will regarding the climate and the environment.

Which graphs confirm the planet's climate change.

Observatory map of the temperature changesplanet between 1901-2012. It's a reminder that the warming we've had thus far isn't spreading evenly - the tropics and higher latitudes are moving faster than other regions.

The following table is very similar to the previous one, seen in another way where the anomalies are highlighted. Shows the amounts of temperatures that have been above or below average in the 20th century. The top is for each year, and the bottom is for each decade. Records show 13 of the 14 hottest years of the century.

The map on the left shows the temperature the planet will have for 2081-2100 if we act now (It must be considered that from the time of industrialization to the present, at the pole, the increase has been 0.7 ºC).

The map on the right shows what will happen if we don't act. In the middle we would be talking about 5ºC more, it does not sound much, but if we move to the ice age, there were only 4-5ºC more cold in some territories.

Sea level rise according to year according to the global warming through thawing.

The dreaded graph, and why everything is happening. Shows the increase in greenhouse gas emissions. In the last 30 years they have grown twice.

'For scientists, there is no question about how to act in the face of climate change. Governments need to pay attention and phase out coal and oil now or end up doing it later at a much higher cost. However, those who harness the potential of renewable energy will take a leap forward towards a sustainable future », said Martin Kaiser, head of climate policy at Greenpeace.
