Energy efficiency

Although the concept of energy efficiency is applicable to a wide sector, one of the most prominent is the one that affects the building, so according to the following scheme of efficiency criteria, we should pay special attention to the games of:

Definition of energy efficiency.

Regarding the definition of energy efficiency we must focus on the Directive 2010/31 / EU energy efficiency in buildings (EPBD: Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) introduces the concept of Almost Zero Energy Consumption Buildings, which are those with a high efficiency level.

The almost zero or very low amount of energy required should be covered, to a very large extent, by energy from renewable sources, including that from renewable sources produced on-site or in the environment. It establishes two dates for its application: December 31, 2022 for all new buildings owned and occupied by public authorities and 2022 for all new buildings of any type.

The energy consumption in heating, sanitary hot water and in cooling throughout the summer in the constructions form more or less forty percent of the energy consumption of the entire European Community.

It must be estimated that much of the energy required for our homes is generated with fossil fuels, whose carbon dioxide emissions contribute to global warming (the so-called greenhouse effect), which generates alarming effects that, over time, may well be transformed into fateful.

As if that were not enough, the energy cost It has been growing: energy bills are becoming a little more unsustainable in the family economy. For these reasons, it is urgent to intervene to achieve a balance between energy and the environment, respecting the rights of future generations, so that they can live in a well-preserved environment rich in natural resources.

The contribution of renewable energy sources (sun, wind, water, etc.) and the increase in sacrifices for their development cannot be underestimated, since in the coming years they will be energy efficiency measures that will produce more benefits the less cost: in fact, these measures will usually generate direct economic benefits, which will also contribute to the development of new products and services.

With the use of efficient renewal technologies and free materials today and with careful handling of effective heating systems where we can learn more from the classification of air conditioning systems, the current energy consumption in a home can be reduced even by forty - fifty percent, holding exactly the same comfort conditions, or even improved with the consistent reduced energy costs.

The strong impact of the construction sector in Spain means that saving energy in this area is among the main challenges when it comes to limiting emissions and energy dependence from abroad.

The 3 main ways to achieve the energy saving are:

  • Find eco-efficient designs in buildings
  • Promote the use of renewable energies
  • Promote savings and efficiency in the use of energy through the promotion of efficient equipment, innovation in materials and user awareness.

In addition to this, it must be taken into consideration that all this must go together to achieve the maximum comfort In the residence.

Inside of the energy efficiency concept we find the bioclimatic architecture whose primary purpose is to make an efficient use of energy and resources, guaranteeing a conditions of comfort and sustainability of the environment.

Sustainable construction is not a current term. Traditionally they have been used measures that reduce energy demand such as the south orientation, the whitewashed houses of Andalusia, the locations in the towns, etc.

- The concept of bioclimatic architecture reduces energy demand and, therefore, cooperates in an essential way in reducing the environmental inconveniences that derive from it.
- Allow to reduce energy consumption and thus save money on electricity or gas bills.
- It allows to reduce the cost of water and also lighting. Improve systems based on sustainable basic sanitation that provide benefits to society.
- Get suitable conditions of temperature, humidity, movement and indoor air quality.
- Bioclimatic architecture allows the building to integrate with its environment and favors environmental sustainability.
