Learning about urban bioclimatic design is a must.

One of the points that we tend to forget when we carry out a project that covers a considerable urban area is to adopt coherent and reasoned architectural measures in an urban planning that benefits the passers-by who must live with that building and the environment that we can form and build.

In this chaos we want to show you a job that is worthy of "Urban Bioclimatic Design Manual - Manual of recommendations for the development of urban regulations”Prepared by different professionals from the architectural and urban sector of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (Portugal) being directors of the José Fariña Tojo project. Architect Doctor. Professor of the Department of Urban Development and Spatial Planning (DUyOT), José Fariña Tojo. Architect Doctor. Professor of the Department of Urban Development and Spatial Planning (DUyOT) and José Fariña Tojo. Architect Doctor. Professor of the Department of Urban Development and Spatial Planning (DUyOT), ETSAM in 2013. The manual is written in both Spanish and Portuguese.

This work is the result of technical assistance in the field of bioclimatic analysis and design of free spaces. A complete analysis of the city and the territory is outlined, with variables and recommendations, of the climate, solar radiation, wind, water, vegetation and materials, as well as an example in its application to the cross-border region of Portugal-Spain.

Normally and in most cases, professionals in the sector focus on the bioclimatic design of buildings, but and the environment! It is no longer a matter of "planting a tree" and that the relevant Administration confirms our work as finished, it is to build a coherent and sustainable urban environment, remembering that our actions will last over many years and that the environment will directly affect the population that inhabits.

The document establishes strategies and guidelines to improve the environment in cities from a technical and quality perspective. Access to the report from… HERE.

I also wanted to remember the post "Essential principles of bioclimatic architecture" which from my point of view is a "jewel" even if they are illustrations.
